Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Business Central is Microsoft's ERP system for small and mid-sized companies and the direct successor to Dynamics NAV (Navision).
Business Central combines financial accounting, purchasing, sales, inventory, projects and — in the Premium licence — manufacturing and service management in one application. All areas work on the same data, so documents flow continuously from quote to posting.
The system is available as a cloud service (Business Central Online) and for operation in your own data centre (on-premises). Microsoft publishes two major release updates per year, applied automatically in the cloud.
Extensions are developed in the AL language. Technically they sit alongside the standard rather than inside it, so customisations survive updates — a key difference from the earlier C/AL model in Dynamics NAV.
What does Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central really cost?
Licence costs are only part of the bill. An overview of licence types, implementation costs, ongoing operation and the items quotes tend to leave out.
